Our Mission
Grazelands Rewilding deploys its herds, expertise and knowledge for more biodiversity in nature reserves in the Netherlands and far beyond. As far as we are concerned, the key lies with landscapes where we as humans no longer intervene with machines, but where wild grazers are at work as landscape architects, or Grazelands! For over 30 years, we have been deploying large herds of cattle and horses for natural grazing in the Netherlands and Europe. They keep landscapes open and give space to new nature. They help increase biodiversity and play an important role in the fight against water or fire.

To really make a difference, we need larger herds, more habitats for the animals and money for research and providing education, training and information. Our dream is a Grazelands Rewilding Centre in Keent. As far as we are concerned, this will be the place where we welcome adults and children, as well as entrepreneurs, policymakers and other professionals. We let them feel, smell and taste why we should take care of our nature and explain the role large grazers play in it. We do this with excursions, workshops, presentations, training courses or customised arrangements. We are a foundation with ANBI status. Donations or investments in Grazelands are tax-deductible. Grazelands Rewilding is the first in the Netherlands to launch a participation programme to build up herds of tauros in the Netherlands and in other European countries. In the form of Tauros tokens, we are marketing nature-impact shares in cooperation with CreditNature. And – unlike Carbon credits, for example – this is based on a method where you can predict and measure the gain in biodiversity. A unique opportunity to make a difference in biodiversity and rewilding together! We would also be happy to help you think about how we can facilitate appropriate communication or (experiential) activities that tie in with your organisation’s sustainability goals.
